Who is Eligible?
Applications are limited to BYU faculty or groups of faculty, and must identify a "Principal Investigator/Program Director" who will be responsible for project oversight and reporting. Only full time BYU faculty may be the lead applicant unless an exception is granted by the college's dean's office. Any BYU faculty can be a co-applicant, but neither graduate nor undergraduate students may be listed as an applicant. Co-applicants may be listed on multiple proposals, but as the lead applicant on only one.
A letter of support from the lead applicant's department chair must also be included on the application and should indicate how the proposal helps to meet department and college goals, as well as how the department will tangibly support the efforts and commitment of the involved faculty.
Compliance
Where one or more of the following situations exist, applicants should work closely with the ORCA Office to comply with local and federal regulations.
Compliance applications can be found on the ORCA website under "IACUC" or "IRB."
Renewal Proposals
Requests for renewal of projects that were funded in a previous year should be submitted in the same manner as a new project and will be competitively evaluated against new proposals. A one or two page final or progress report must be submitted for each applicant on a new proposal who has had a previous MEG. These reports must be turned in no later than the application due date.
Final Report
A final report must be submitted to ORCA at the end of the project. The report may include materials proposed for publication in a journal or to a sponsoring agency. It may be as brief as two pages but must cover the following:
Researchers with previous funding who have not submitted a final (or progress) report are not eligible to apply. Final reports can be submitted to byu_mentoring@byu.edu. Put your last name followed by the title of the project in the subject line.
